After about 30-days of use, I don't see any real-world improvement with AirPods 2 w/Case, other than my 1st AP batteries where nearly depleted. The pods are not any faster at anything, and connection sync time to other Apple devices is worst.

I have the latest Apple Watch, HomePods x3, and my 2017 MacBook Pro. I was hopeful they would automatically disconnect from the Mac when leaving the house, but nope. You will hear the tone/beep, but it's a false-positive as you still need to re-select the AirPods from the iPhone settings. Also, when asking Siri a question, the answer/response is often sent to a HomePod in the Living Room or Kitchen that's about 30-feet away.

Even so, I like them because there isn't a competitive alternative.

Conversely, the difference for me from first-gen is HUGE. Near instant connects, no more connects and disconnects and reconnects. Miles better. Certainly what the first gen should have been. And the battery life on phone calls is night/day better.

Also, Hey Siri has never made my HomePod answer, when the new AirPods are in my ear.

I have had my AirPods for almost exactly 2 years now. I can't be on a call for more than 35 minutes without hearing the low battery sound. I can listen to music for about 2 hours. I can live with those battery drain times for a little while longer but I hope Apple releases a new version before my battery degrades to unacceptable levels. I have used them every day for two years so I can't complain too much.

My AirPods were purchased in December 2016, right at launch. I am also down to about 30 minutes on a call. I am "managing" that by using one only, then putting it in the charging case and using the other, and rotating them like this for calls over half an hour. I expect to replace them fairly soon.

I have had the AirPods about 2 years and they have not got much use. I recently used them on a flight and was disappointed they only got about 2 hours of playback. My B&O over ears can get about 20 hours.

Not only that, coming from over ear headphones, I feel the sound quality is lacking and they frequently disconnect at an sudden movement. I don’t know if it the shape of my ears. People rave about AirPods, but the speed they degrade is really not acceptable for headphones in this price range and personally I feel this is Apple’s worst product in years.

The convenience of the AirPods outweighs the two year lifespan. I’ll get another pair in two years. For the cost it’s one less dinner in Manhattan.

This functionality has been removed in watchOS 7. Nowhere to be found.

...what are you referring to exactly? I know on my watch (7.3), I can no longer find this option :

...is this what has been removed?

😕

I figured out how to get AirPods (Pro) battery life to show up on Apple Watch, at least as of the latest watchOS version: pair the AirPods (Pro) to your Watch via Settings-->Bluetooth. I could swear a couple watchOS versions ago this wasn't necessary. Now it seems to be.

...if you pair AirPods to the watch then that won't allow you to play music from your phone unless you repair back to the phone.

?? I suppose this is true if you have the original AirPods and if you turned off automatic source switching…but this is not an issue. My APP switch between devices automatically.
Then after that initial pairing with the watch, battery levels show up more consistently.
If they don’t, a reboot of the watch/phone brings the functionality back.
