How can I check that my Apple M1 is really sleeping/in standby.

It‘s a Mac Mini M1.If it's a MBP, with the lid open touch (not press) to authenticate Touch ID. If it doesn't wake then it's deep sleep.
Power Nap doesn’t exist on M1 Macs. The M1 efficiency cores use so little power that those functions are integrated into the system. If you have Power Nap enabled. It may be performing background tasks. Which it'll do periodically and go back to sleep.
The pulsating light is gone.the front LED does not pulse like you think it should

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Even if the computer is asleep, it may respond to a ping. Pinging the computer is not a useful way to determine if the computer is asleep.Yes it will if the checkbox is on to wake from sleep for network access!
You’re right. Open Console right after waking from sleep. There should be a time gap in the recent logs during the time it was sleeping. Along with power state logs.LOL all these replies and not a single answer
