If I receive a mass text, Is there a way for me to check who else that text was sent too?
Not that I'm aware of. Why would you want to know?
The reason I'm wondering is sometimes I receive texts that seem like they are a mass text but I'm not sure if they are or not (for example stupid fwd type pictures). I don't wanna reply if it's a mass text. I guess what I should have asked is, is there a way to tell if a text was sent to anyone else than yourself?
Kind of? I had this weird thing yesterday where someone sent me and a few others a picture. For some reason, my phone displayed the response of another person. It was really weird.
When I receive a mass text, I can see everyone who receives it. My mom is classic at taking a picture and sending it to five people. You have to be careful if you want to reply to the sender so you don't reply all.
This is why I was wanting to know. I don't wanna reply to mass texts because it seems to do this sometimes where it will send your reply to everyone who received the original text.
I got a text from a guy friend of mine on valentine's day... something flirty and stupid, but I saw that it was a mass text because I could see everyone else he sent it to. Without being careful, I sent a text back saying he was busted - but it went to all the girls. I got texts and call for days from these chicks asking who the hell I was. Yeesh.
How were you able to tell it was a mass text? This is what I'm trying to figure out. Every time I get a mass text on my iPhone it just shows up as a regular text.
If you click on the top of the text message where it says TO:
And then click details it should list all the recipients.
Some phones or networks might send them different but if send from an iphone you could see the list of phone numbers that it was send to.
GROUP MMS in settings
OP what you are experiencing is called "group MMS" I started a thread about the dangers of using this feature a while ago...basically anytime you get a mass text, picture or not it shows up as a group MMS...and when you reply to it everyone that received the original text will see your response...if you look at the details of the message you can see every number the original text was sent to also...I once received an "I love you" text from this girl I was seeing, little did I know she sent it to another guy as a two recipient text, I replied to it and the guy got my text too...we both had fun confronting her a$$ about it
How do you choose to "reply" and not "reply all"?
That's really funny
If you turn off group messaging in Settings would that prevent mass mailings??
not in all cases...if the sender has an iPhone it will still happen
I don't get where I would click details at. Here is a mass MMS I received the other day, It only gives me the option to start typing a reply like any other text message.
I want to know if the text I received went to other people because I get a lot from work asking if I can cover hours. If it was sent just to me I would feel obligated to respond either way, but if it went out to everyone they don't expect an answer if I can't. I don't need to know specifically who else it went to, just IF it went to anyone else.
Turn on group messaging in your settings, under messages.
How did I get in trouble?
Friends are strange about the intimacy of their phone. I keep Group Messaging off. Here's what happened, I sent a funny innocent pic to about 4 people. One smarty decides to reply all with a rude text. Yea, what a friend! A female friend of mine got mad at me! asking me to take her off my dist list and that I messed up her phone. Be careful... some friend...geez. Chewed him out all last night, what are we 12 years old.
