Most of that tuition, etc. goes to pay for things which matter to your education. Salaries for teaching and support staff, cost of building and maintaining facilities, etc...
Believe me - the last thing which universities are in these days of reduced government funding is rich. Making do - yes - but certainly not rich.
Oh yes, my school is so god awful poor. Teachers do not need a raise every semester, the President does not need $100k+ a year. Get with it, seriously. Just because you are CEO or something, how in the hell does that mean you deserve a million dollar salary? Or a pro athlete, million dollar contracts? The money system is so ****ed up anymore its ridiculous.
My cost per credit has increased over $50 in 2 years, this year they closed the library on saturday. You go by the library on saturday and EVERY LIGHT IS ON, ALL DAY. They also run fountains all over campus. Its cool how I pay more and get less every time I come back here. AND I STILL HAVE NO WIRELESS IN MY DORM. A college shouldnt need increased government funding to survive, cut the pay and deal with it or you are going to start losing students. Want to know a funny thing, I am at a tech college and I pay more in tuition than PENN STATE MAIN CAMPUS. So damn tired of everyone trying to say the school is broke, ITS NOT. Its the morons who run them that put money where it isnt needed. Not to mention everything is overstaffed.
Needed:
-Library on saturday
-Main cafeteria open past 3pm
Not Needed:
-Landscaping along sidewalks
-Fountains running
-Lights on in a closed building
-30 people running a cafeteria when 5 could do the same thing
Back on topic, I dont have wireless because the school is "upgrading" supposedly. They had 4 months in the summer to upgrade. Our internet fluctuates from 5mpbs down to 35mbps down to just plain doesnt work. The only thing reliable at this school is the fact you will get screwed harder the next time you come back.
