How to compress large files?

    I need to compress several pdf, word, excel, etc. files so that I can send them more easily through email and burn them. Can someone tell me what to use to reduce these beasts please?

    you can compress them into rar or 7zip. i don't know exactally which program can do this reliably and free, so it's best to use google to figure this out. check out www.versiontracker.com for the compression programs.

    You can zip 'em up by right (control) clicking the file and selecting "Create Archive of..."
