I had a DVD from Sony camcorder (soon to be replaced) that somehow got corrupted and would not read in a DVD player. I was able to rescue the .vob file using Isobuster on a PC, sans the sound, but now I'm not sure what to do with it on my Mac.

What program can I use to convert .vob files to some valid file that I can use with iDVD, etc...?

Handbrake should be the first thing you try. If that doesn't work, try MPEG StreamClip for the video and let me know if oyu get that far, I'll let you know how to get the audio.
