how to convert dvd to .mov for imovie

I am trying to pull some footage from a dvd to edit in imovie. I have to footage I need I just need to get it in a format accepted by imovie.

Is there an easy way to do this? If so, what it is?

I used handbrake straight to mp4.

DVDxDV or mpeg streamclip. (If your final product is DVD, you might not want to transcode to MPEG4).

Rip using MacTheRipper then use ffmpegX to convert to virtually ANY file format, including .mov.......... You could also use ffmpegX to convert it to .DV which would be much easier (and stable) to use in iMovie.
