I'd appreciate some tips, tutorials, or plugins advice for creating borders around images , that make the image appear as though it was printed. e.g. make it appear to be an old polaroid print, or printed on old paper, etc.

I'm not referring to image 'edge' effects. I'm sure it can be done from scratch in photoshop , but I could use some help .

The next step would be printing an image that looks like one of these older media. I wouldn't expect it to fool anyone. But wonder if anyone is actually printing and displaying prints that have these faux borders or mats .

Nik's suite (Color Efex Pro, etc.) has some options and has free trials.

In fact, their "Snapseed" program is loads cheaper and might do what you want too.

I've no idea how you'd do it from scratch.
