How to create Terminal Shortcut?

I've tried: System Preferences>Keyboard>Application Shortcuts>Add an application shortcut>Terminal>then it creates the shortcut but when I actually try to use it, it won't work for some reason... Any suggestions?

I'm trying to launch the Terminal with a keyboard shortcut.

ahh those "keyboard shortcuts" in system preferences are not for launching the app they are for custom menu shortcuts within the app

lol...just put Terminal in your dock.

Without third-party software, there's not going to be an easy way to open Terminal with a keyboard shortcut. I usually just use Spotlight. Cmd-Space then "ter" is enough. Very quick and easy. If you want something more, look into Quicksilver or Alfred.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm glad I ran across it. I was wondering what the hell was wrong with this for awhile...
