Ah, I've unexpectedly come back to MacOS, riding on the back of my cute unbinned M4 Pro Mini pony, outpacing all the big horses around me.

Back in 2016, I sold my Mac Pro 3.1 to switch to a Windows workstation. Up until that point, I used to customize my MacOS, I think it was mainly the dock and icons, with an app that looked like a snack? I forgot the name? Anyone remember which one that was? Is it still relevant?

Anyhow, what do people use nowadays for that purpose?

Given the added customization features to the current MacOS, people just do it nowadays themselves?

Apple doesn't provide any methods to customize the OS, other than a handful of options in System Settings; and the OS icon files themselves are securely sealed and cannot be altered.

You can change the icon on Apps, of course, in the usual way by pasting into Get Info.

The OS is so awful now, that user customizations might actually be an improvement! 😛

Haha right, okay.

Btw I figured out what app I was using, it's called candybar:

But some did. There were ways at least in Ventura. I don't know if they still are available. It would be great if people like @allan.nyholm or @NordicBoots would us lighten up. They were used to be experts in macos customization.
My wishes are small: Change Dock icons of the system apps including Finder.

I’d love to enlighten about the state of customization. There’s projects that will handle all that soon. But, it all takes place on Discord as far as I can tell. The discussions happen there. And to an extent on GitHub. Some projects live there
