I have the exact same problem. I believe I am on the latest firmware for my AirPods? I attached the screenshots of the options I have as well as the firmware version of my AirPods. I miss “it just works.”

Changed the settings today so left does previous track and right next track.

As the music already pauses when you take one ear out I never used that feature for double tap anyway.

Same situation. iOS 11.0.1, AirPods on the latest firmware (3.7.2,) but no joy with this feature. I have rebooted the iPhone, "forgotten" the AirPods, re-connected them, but still I am not seeing these options. I have performed a factory reset on the AirPods too, still to no avail. What's even more frustrating is that I tried with a friend's AirPods on my iPhone (same model #, same firmware) and his worked fine. I see the new options for double-tap on each AirPod. But with *my* AirPods, I'm not seeing them. So weird.

Marky17, did you get this situation resolved?

I really hope they create a volume up and volume down control while tapping. Double tap my left ear, and volume goes down. Double tap the right, and it goes up. It would be really simple and way better than barking at Siri to control the volume.

Just wondering. Got my AirPods today. The double tap thing is very unresponsive. Are they defective? Using with iPhone 7 running iOS 11. It only seems to work if I really knock the AirPod. Very poor response. Any ideas?
