It's by design that you can't select and delete multiple conversations in one go.

So lame, I should be able to hold command or drag my mouse and select multiple conversations and then they can prompt are you sure you want to delete all the selected conversations as this can't be undone.

Thank you all that responded! I truly appreciate your help!

I guess no update on this "feature"

I abhor having to go through and swipe on each message then click delete in the pop-up

Its "features" like this that pushed my brother to move to android... and I guess I am next. Geez Apple get it together... you are acting like Chevrolet, where you can get an option except if you order a certain other one, then you can't. So now I no longer own a Chevy

Yeah, this really blows. Earlier Mac OS versions had a little X next to the message to delete it. Now you have to right-click, say Delete Conversation... and then verify you're deleting it. Stupid!

I wrote to Apple feedback about this, and they replied deleting 300 messages one at a time improved hand-eye coordination. It also burns more calories and builds wrist muscle mass.

Good old Apple, always looking out for my health.

Somehow I suspect for every user who'd like easier delete functionality, there'd be a user who contacted Apple support outraged they lost important conversations because it was too easy to delete them.

In MacOS Ventura, Apple finally fixed iMessage to allow for the deletion of multiple conversations at a time. Select the conversations you want to delete by holding the CMD key down while you click on the conversations. Then with a two-finger click (if you're using a track pad) select Delete.

That's good to know for when I install macOS Ventura sometime in the future.

well, it's not working with latest ventura update. I just tried, it's craptastic, not working, and if it's a link, you can only delete one by one. really crappy Mac UI as is typical. they've basically abandoned making it feature rich and logical based on what desktop/laptop users want and need. frickin arrogant dip wads. sick of apple. hate windoze more, but not by much.
