I'm currently running Lion GM but want to do a clean install with the official lion release. Then I want to restore all my documents from my time machine backup.

Will this work? What is the best way to go about this?

search the forum on how to make a Lion DVD or USB boot disk. Boot up with that, format your hard drive, then install Lion.

Actually, I just noticed the GM build is exactly the same as the app store final release. But its still a good idea to do a clean install if I'm having some problems here n there?

This is how I updated to Lion:

1. Backed up my data from Snow Leopard to an external firewire enclosure via Time Machine.
2. Installed a fresh copy of Snow Leopard from the install disk that came with my mac.
3. Downloaded a copy of Lion from the App Store.
4. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1189888/
5. Install Lion.
6. Restore my iTunes folder and Documents from my Time Machine backup.
7. Enjoy. :)

I had no errors or anything throughout the process.

-Backed up my MBP 13 to Time Machine

-Rebooted with flash drive that I had formatted and placed Lion on

-Using Disk Utility from the Lion flash drive, wiped the hard drive

-Installed Lion without having to install Snow Leopard

-Migrated data from Time Machine backup

-Enjoy
