What are you talking about? A change in the file?

A local backup before you upgraded to iOS 15 will put you right back to where you were at the time of the backup (when you were running iOS 14). Procedure might be complicated for some, but it’s pretty straight forward once you know it.
Ok then.
Believe it or not your choice.

Only reason I want to downgrade is HSBC's app doesn't work under iOS15 public beta.
Is there a way to downgrade the Watch to watchOS 7? I don;t want to downgrade my phone to iOS 14 and lose connectivity to my watchOS 8 watch.
Same.

First Direct (same underlying app, different branding) doesn’t work on iOS 15. I didn’t want to downgrade back to iOS 14 so I’ve had to put the app on my iPad for the time being, and call them to deactivate/deactivate the stupid digital secure key.

Par for the course running betas though.

The only other iOS 15 issue I’ve had is my phone occasionally running really hot and depleting the battery very quickly for no apparent reason. No clues in the Battery settings page either. A reboot sorts it out and it hasn’t happened since I upgraded to the revised version of Beta 2. They must have encountered a serious bug to release a revised build and I wonder if that’s what I was hitting.

Thanks! iOS 15 was a disaster on my M1 iPad. i know it’s beta and usually i am quite happy running beta (or even dev/alpha) software but I had to go back to 14. has been working fine on my 12 Pro Max though.

The only way to downgrade it is to make a Genius Bar appointment, send the watch away and get them to re-flash it. Did it on mine a couple of versions ago and then learnt to wait a week to make sure I was happy with the new iOS before upgrading the WatchOS version
I learned that back in the watchOS 3 days. 😁

Unfortunately, though, doing that now means you also have to live with daily “reminders” that an OS upgrade is available.

I would strongly advise against this if you were previously on the iOS 14.7 public beta.

I lost a good 4 hours of my life yesterday trying to do this.

Once you sign up for the iOS 15 public beta, the 14.7 will not be available again. The downgrade to iOS 14 will work but will put you on 14.6 but your backup will be from the 14.7 beta and is incompatible so can’t be used.

Complete **** show.

After getting back on iOS 14.6 and not being able to restore it. I had to set it up as a new phone, then get back onto the iOS 15 public beta, then reset the device and then restore it from the latest backup.
I made it work! My backup to my Macbook was a 14.7 public beta. I found a IPSW for iOS beta 14.7, I think the website was betaprofiles.com or something. Installed the profile (which was a developer), installed the beta, then I could get my backup from my Macbook. First try failed, it said some kind of read error, but when I tried again, it was successful.

can't you just download a 14.7 beta IPSW and restore to that version from your computer?
thats what I’m thinking. I wanna downgrade, thinking of using my backup to restore.

and the only reasons I want to downgrade is ios 15 itself is the issue, not the beta. I done beta for 14 and loved it.

ios 15 has issues with:

notifications not grouping. Mail being delayed.

ifi switch to silent, the phone still rings.

not good at all.

Did you manage to keep your photos on the device?

Unfortunately theres a hand full of new apps that only work with older ios operating systems but the older ios operating systems arent available anywhere. Could the person that posted this article please include the link to the ios 14 download or send it to me? I cant find it anywhere on the web, not even apples website. Prefferably post a link to ios 13 download but that may just be wishful thinking at this point. I have an iphone 6s. I dont even care where the download comes from at this point, id do some dark web russian ios 13 download if i knew where to find it. The corporations arent helping me. oh yeah apples got their heads up their.

You won't find iOS 14.x anywhere.

Well, let me correct that. You can find iOS 14 for download, but if I remember right, you would need iOS 14.7.2 at the most to be able to get to iOS 14.8. The only way to get to iOS 14.8 is via OTA updates, but iOS 14.7.2 was the last release in iOS 14 to be released as a full download. Additionally, Apple stopped signing 14.7.2 when iOS 15 came out, so you wouldn't be able to get onto that regardless..

In short, if you're on iOS 15.x, you're stuck on it with no way to get back to iOS 14.8.

You could try it, but it won't work.

Unless Apple is signing that version of iOS, it will fail the check for verification that it is one that can be used. so no matter if you have it, without them signing it, you can't install it..

I have three XS Max phones and luckily, I only upgraded one to 15.1.

I kept the other on 14 something and upgraded them to 14.8 last week. I do not like what 15.1 has done to CarPlay. It makes my Hondas display cutoff titles after one line of text for music and podcasts. This does not happen on 14.8 so I am now using one of the XS Max on 14.8 in my car.

You can go up to 14.8.1 via OTA; you won't find a full IPSW download for it, so that is an option..

I read your post with interest as I regret upgrading to 15.2 for the same reasons. I was hopeful that 15.2 would resolve some screen lock-ups in Messages/Contacts/Phone keypad. No such luck on my last two top-end iPhones
