I just got a swim MP3 player that only accepts MP3 or WMA. I was wondering how to download Podcasts in those formats so I can listen to them on this MP3 player?

Using iTunes
  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Add the podcast to your library.
  3. Open the "iTunes" menu and select "Preferences"."
  4. Click "Import Settings"."
  5. Select the "Import Using" dropdown menu and choose "MP3 Encoder"."
  6. Select a quality setting.
  7. Click "OK"."
  8. Navigate to your Library.
  9. Select the file(s) you want to convert.
  10. Open the "File" menu and select "Convert"."
  11. Select "Create mp3 Version".

Add to above, many of the Podcasts (all?) in iTunes are MP3s, so, just need to navigate to your library in Finder and copy over.

"All mp3" as I just did a search on my library and only one was m4a, but rest in that show are all mp3. And seem to recall that publishing a podcast in iTunes requires the author to handle file storage of the file(s). So as above, authors usually have a website where they are hosting their podcasts from, and probably in mp3 format.
