How To Edit/Input Information In iTunes "Release Date" Column

For a while, I've wanted to be able to sort my albums on iTunes by release date. However, iTunes never really had such a functionality so I used the "Sort Album" field to do this. However, recently I noticed there is a "Release Date" column now available, but I'm unable to locate where you can edit and input information into this field.

If anyone is able to offer some insight into this, that would be great.

The Release Date field has always been there, but it's not editable in iTunes.
