Hi guys, I really don't like to use MetaX as the data is sourced from many places. I really like using iFlicks however there doesn't seem to be a method (or i am unaware of one) that allows the user to embed metadata into the m4v file. Plex also gives excellent results but has the same issue. Does anyone know a good solution? I would love a way to embed iFlicks data to the file if at all possible.

    Cheers! :)

I should have mentioned that I use Handbrake to encode my files. Anyway to embed this type of file using iFlicks? Or anything like it?

Use the 'Flatten to quicktime' option in iFlicks...it'll rewrite the file with the metadata embedded.

I have questions about this. Some apps rewrite the whole file while others just tag the existing file.

I think this has to do with optimize and hinted streaming for QuickTime and iOS devices.

I saw a post where the developer of identify changed the optimize/rewrite to off. Not sure why but he mentioned that it is now defaulted to off and is the better way if you are tagging media on an external drive.

I've tried several versions of iFlicks and some have a "flatten to QuickTime" option to tag the existing file while some other versions require rewriting to a new file.

Anybody know the difference, if it is still necessary to rewrite the file?

I use iFlicks predominantly, have played with the others. I cant see how any of them can 'embed' the metadata without rewriting the file.

Iflicks 1.2.1 did not need to rewrite the file. In the google group for iflicks, the developer says the current version can tag the existing file. In my trials, version 1.2.3 writes a new m4v while version 1.3.5 beta writes the tagged file to mov.

I haven't been able to get subler to tag the existing file (m4v from handbrake in AppleTV 2 format.) Other people on this board can do that. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I have the most up to date version.
