I have some MP4 files with corresponding subtitle SRT files. I want to embed the subtitles in the MP4 files for better viewing experience with my Apple TV. Is there a way to do that without re-encoding the entire files? Right now I re-encode the whole thing with HandBrake but since the H.264 stream is already in the format I want it should be easier to just embed the SRT into that, but I can't find the tools to do it. I tried Submerge, which burns them in and that's not what I want to have.

I use Subler that does the job just fine without recoding everything (takes a minute or two per movie)

    2nd this.
Every other option I tried wanted to recode the video, wasted so much time before Subler.

    Go to subler than:

    - click new (that will prompt an input screen)
    - click on the + sign to add your movie file
    - clic again on the + sign to add your srt file
    - clic on the "send to queue icon" (same icon as the share one on an iphone)
    - clic start on the queue screen

    that is is really,

let me know if that works

    Or even better:

    1. open the mp4/m4v directly in Subler
    2. Press the + button and select the .srt (or drag it into the window)
    3. File -> Save (it should take a few seconds)
