Here's the fix for AirPrint. Confirmed working on 10.6.5. There is no workaround currently for Windows operating systems. This fix requires both the 10.6.5 update and a networked printer.

    1. Download the file at the following link: http://cl.ly/3BmD
    2. Unpackage the .zip to reveal a folder with some codesheets and a readme.
    3. Drag the codesheets to their places using the instructions in the readme. You will need an administrator's password for this step.
    4. Go into System Preferences -> Print & Fax
    5. Remove from the list any printers you want to use on AirPrint.
    6. Restart your Mac.
    7. Go back into System Preferences and re-add any printers you want to use with AirPrint.
    8. Test, verify here, and troubleshoot with me if you need to.

*Note: This is not an official fix. Some printers may not be compatible. Generally, printers connected to a Mac via USB will work with AirPrint, though this is not true for all printers.

Use one of the following applications to print:

    AirPrint Hacktivator: (http://netputing.com/airprinthacktivator/)
    Printopia: (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/)
    FingerPrint: (http://www.collobos.com/)

    Old Files?

I followed the instructions, now my printer wont print at all. i should have backed up the files:

    /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.convs
    /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.types

    before i replaced them but i didn't.

anyone know where i can the older versions from?

    Cheers.

Nice. I used the link in the 3rd post. It works just fine with my 8 year-old hp printer. Thanks.

What sort of printer setup are you using? Also, make sure you copied all three of the files to your computer.

Is printer sharing enabled? If not, enable it now.

yes sharing enabled in sharing settings and on the printer to share on network.

the files have created the issue.

can i get the files off my OSX 10.6.1 install dvd? only option seem to be full install which will no doubt wipe the HD.

Delete the third file. I'll work to find a replacement for the first two.

Do your best to restore those files. Do you have any Time Machine backups?

    Perfect!

The time machine worked. I restored the /usr folder and restarted, i have a printer again.

Nice feature to restore only exactly what you need.

    Thanks for the help.
