Can someone explain what the “accent color” is? What it’s for? I have a somewhat vintage mac and can’t tell, but I’m curious.

It's an extension of the graphite option in previous versions of macos. So here is the accent color in standard blue:

Then in green:

What I don’t understand is why there isnt a keyboard shortcut or a menu bar toggle or an automatic night-shift esque switching into dark mode. I feel like those are all very obvious features that shouldn’t require a year for macOS 10.15 to be in the OS
Searching around online I found this automator implementation:

Hopefully that’s coming in a future release. It would definitely be nice to change mode on the fly, and scheduling seems way too obvious to be an oversight. Seems to me that it would tie in nicely with Night Shift.

In F.Lux there is this option: Click the f.lux icon in the top bar, choose "color effects" and then enable "OS X Dark theme at sunset".
Whenever night shift is activated because of sunset, the themes switches from light to dark and vice versa at sunrise.

I would love this and stacks. Wish I could afford a mac :( I’ll just stick with my 2011 i5 $680 windows 7 4k machine with $700 Samsung 40” monitor. Maybe Apple will make something that isn’t sealed and cost an arm, leg, torso, and first born. Not holding my breath.
Turns out I had to stretch my savings account to get the Mac mini. Yep, dark mode was the first thing I looked forward to. Love stacks. I’m forcing myself to have a clean desktop but that seems easier for me on macOS than Windows. Love the macOS and dark mode is much easier on my eyes than standard white backgrounds, especially as I’m filling Photos with thousands of pictures.
