Not sure why you want to erase it. If you don't want anyone to see the data try smashing the heck out of it. If you want to be able to reuse your disk, try purchasing a CD-RW or DVD-RW which can be erased and reused.

erase a rewriteable CD/DVD? select it in Disk Utility and click the Erase tab then quick erase.
