How to erase unlock?

Hey there,

I need to send my phone to Apple to get it replaced, as it's having some hardware issues. It's an unlocked original iPhone on 3.0. Will a restore to 3.0 get rid of the unlock? Or do i need to take more drastic steps...

On the other hand, has anyone sent in their unlocked iPhone to Apple for repair?

I'd do a DFU restore.
