my wife 15 Plus with 96 cycle count and using fast charging and wireless charger that heats the phone with 100% battery health vs my 15 Pro Max with 45 cycle only charged on slow charging brick at night with 99% battery health ?

15 Pro Max has a battery issue?

Apple showing a number is the worst thing they ever did here for people. They should have just put the word, good, highlighted in green, caution highlighted in yellow, and bad hoghlighted in red for when to replace the battery on devices. That would solve everyones self created anxiety.

..and patronize technically inclined users who are well aware of the fact that 1 or 2% don’t make a difference? Just because some people suffer from OCD and anxiety? So no, it’s a good thing they did here with the battery health indicator.

Batteries absolutely wear out, but the battery health on the last 2 iPhones has dropped much much faster than any other prior generation. My 15 Pro max is down to 89%. For comparison, my 13 Pro Max from 2.5 years ago which I gave to a family member has 90%.

Not all batteries start out with the same capacity.
This is the answer. The minimum size a battery can be is what’s listed on their site. The size of the actual battery can be 100% of the minimum size or can be as high as 104 or 105% of the minimum size but both will say 100%. It will take a lot longer for the latter to get to 99% simply because it’s bigger and not due in any real way to how it was charged.

I didn’t want to start another thread about battery health….

I’ve been using a 30w charging plug on my 15 Pro Max with the Apple USB-C cable. My battery health is 98% and 64 cycles.

I don’t let my device go below 25% at the lowest but usually somewhere between 35-40% minimum before being charged again.

I was using the 80% limit for the first two months and with the new charge limits in iOS 18 I’m using 90%.

Maybe it’ll be better in the long run if I’m using a 5w charger overnight to the 90% limit as slow charging means less heat and slower battery degradation?

I wonder how Apple will mitigate battery degradation with the rumoured increase in charge speeds to 40w with the iPhone 16 series.
