How to extend the desktop screen with dual monitors

Having a hard time figuring out how to extend a panoramic background image across two monitors.
 
The easiest way to do it is to break the image into two different images.

just open it up in your favorite image editing programs and split it clean in half assuming you have equal res monitors.
