step five (if needed). see step one

Update:
I just got a haircut with a pair of scissors at the local barber one of my friends suggested. He used the scissors to cut hairs as all the barbers should do as a default mode (or any who calls himself/herself a barber). He did a good job as he did not whack off my hairs like the other barbers did. He understood my hair cut instruction very well and he followed through.

Gillboyswims96, no offense; but, if I am going to do that, I won't be posting this thread, do I?

I've never had a problem with it. Of course, I've always lived either in small towns or 2nd/3rd world countries, where scissor cuts are the norm. My current guy uses clippers for the back and sides and scissors for the top. Straight razor for the edges and a shave if you like. The barbers down here are all taught very good scissor work, and do an incredible job. Costs me about $2 USD for a cut. :D

I understand that this is the way that you feel it should be but it's also remarkably ethnocentric.

The default mode for cutting hair the people of African descent is clipper.
