HomePod How to find iPhone with HomePod update?

When I ask Siri, "find my iPhone," she replies "I can't tell if your iPhone is nearby..."

This is with the latest update. Am I asking her wrong?

I just tested and she said 'It's nearby' 'Pinging iPhone' and then my phone started to ping.

Thanks for testing. I haven't updated my iPhone to iOS 12 yet, so I wonder if that's my issue..

Yeah I'm sure it needs the phone on iOS 12 too.

This doesn't work for me either -- Are your home pods at 11.4.1, or did they receive an update I haven't received?

I got it working. HomePod and Phone both need to be at their respective OS 12 versions.

I had to unpair and repair the hp and then all updated nicely.
