I have just bought a new MacBook Pro. Everything is fine so far but I have a minor problem. My new MacBook Pro (Alexander’s MacBook Pro) is not correctly identified as a MacBook Pro (see screenshot). I talked to Apple but they couldn’t offer me a solution. I reinstalled macOS Sierra and also I deleted the device from my device list. But my MacBook Pro is still not correctly recognized. Does anybody else have a solution for this issue?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes! But not in the device list of my Apple ID and in the iCloud tab of my iPhone.
If you click on the device, then force quit settings on your phone, and go back into iCloud, it should be correct. You kind of just have to reset it.

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately the problem is still not solved. I also installed MacOS High Sierra and still my MacBook Pro is not correctly recognized. It is really weird. Any more ideas? Does anybody else have this problem at all?

Thanks in advance for any more answers!
Alex

Brian has it right in post 7 above this one.

Does the MacBook Pro work like "a MacBook Pro"?

If so, don't worry about it.

Hi had the same issue, and I don't know if it is a problem or not, but there is one day I talked to apple care guy, and their response is that "We didn't see anyone report this issue so I don't believe any engineer would fix it" (mostly the meaning is like this).

First towards the issue itself, what is telling me is that apple's software team is very careless of those details now (not that good in the old time either, but just getting worse.)

Secondly, i don't like the tone of this senior support engineer, basically he is telling me, apple would fix an issue util it affects certain amount of people.

At the end i tried to reinstall the system in multiple way, so my experience is that, at the beginning after you installed a new system, the list will display your device correctly, but after some interaction with iCloud panel in System Preference, the list will get update and shows your MacBook pro as Mac.
