How to Format Time Capsule for FAT

I have a time capsule 1TB that I need to back up both PC's and Macs on. I have read that the TC and HD need to be formatted for FAT. What is that and how is this done?

No.

Just put the airport disk utility program on your PCs to access the hard drive on the Time Capsule.

It will read the native format of the TC Drive without needing to format it specially.

both Mac & PC will read/write to it fine.
