I deleted a message thread from Messages on my iPhone and Mac and would like to somehow restore it. I do have Time Machine backups from my Mac.

1. Is there a way to restore deleted messages built into Mac OS?
2. How or can I use my Time Machine Backup to restore the message that I want?

Thanks.

If you have another iOS device or mac, maybe turn off wifi and LTE and turn/power it on, then open messages, it maybe still there. Take a screen shot of the message because I think once you turn back on the wifi etc it'll be deleted. It's the only way I can think of, though I maybe very wrong. Good luck

Just to add, I deleted a very long very old message thread and it was GONE! I couldn't believe how easy it was to delete by mistake. Apple should build in another layer of warning, I had meant to do something quite innocent and it took a nano second to delete and then the "oh sh!!"
