How to get Apple Watch to pair with my car

I have a Toyota with bluetooth that works seamlessly with my iPhone. The pairing process with my watch never worked.

Do I need to replace the audio system in my car with something that contains Apple Play to get this feature to work?

If so, any recommendations for what manufacturers or products are most reliable?

Any hacks that have worked to pair directly?

When I got my series 3, I tried connecting it with my CR-V. It wouldn’t work. Perhaps I should try again. I’m not optimistic, though.
