I just moved from a 15" 2009 unibody to the 13" 2011 and would definitely recommend using spaces and hiding the dock. I love the portability of the 13" and combined with 8GB RAM and 240GB Vertex 3 SSD...this thing screams!!!

I guess the bigger problem is the straining of the eyes to read things, and less so the cramped screen. I can deal with a lower screen real estate, but having a hard time focusing and reading is a problem.

I can't really tell if the fonts on the 13" are smaller, but the fonts on the 15" do seem to be a bit bolder.

That being said, it seems to be getting a bit better the more I use it.

1280 x 800 - 13.3" - 16:10 - 113.49 ppi - 0.2238mm MacBook Pro 13.3"
1440 x 900 - 15.4" - 16:10 - 110.27 ppi - 0.2303mm MacBook Pro 15.4"

Everything on a computer screen is rendered in pixels, as in they're so many pixels tall and so many pixels wide. Take fonts for example, assuming you're using the same default size fonts on both Macs the fonts on the 13.3" will appear smaller than on the 15.4" due to the 13" having a smaller pixel size. A font that's say 10 pixels tall will be 2.238mm tall on the 13.3" vs 2.303mm on the 15.4".

I'm wondering if thats even noticeable?

Heck before I posted you had already said that you thought they looked smaller, and if you're having issues with the display, as you seem to be, then it probably is noticeable.

i went from a 15 to 13" screen and had no problem. The 15" did have the same res though...
