    Hey guys,

I'm very interested in working at the Genius Bar in Apple stores, but I was wondering what kind of skills, certificates, etc. you need to have in order to qualify to work there. Also, what kind of qualities do they look for in a applicant? Would you say it is a hard position to get for the average college student? I'm guessing there are a lot of applicants and that personality plays a big role.

I know this lowers my odds, but I'm turning 20 in a few months and have actually never had a job before. How big will this factor into my chances of being hired?

    Thanks.

You wont get it. No offence. Its about experience not just certificates, my sister works at the apple store (18) as a mac speacilist. A genius needs mega in depth knowledge about everything an have great people skills. To be a specialist or general employee is great, show carisma personality but be confident in what you know. They do give training for a week once you are hired.

Thanks, so they won't hire you if you don't have job experience in technology? I mean, I believe I have a fairly in depth knowledge of computers, both PC and Mac, and I also am good at problem solving. I'm the guy all my friends ask when they need help with anything technology related. I probably know most of the things they will teach you during training. The one thing that you mentioned that I might not have is the charisma. I mean, I'm not shy, but I'm the kind of guy who doesn't stand out very much. Maybe I should look into other positions at the Apple store?

Employee discount! haha, no I'm just kidding. Well I guess the reason I want to work there is because it's a job I know I can do well and it's something I enjoy doing...helping other people out. So really it would almost be like being paid to do something you enjoy doing. I've considered some other places, but the Apple store seems to be my favorite.
