Huh?

new macbook pro doesn't come with boot camp...

Yes it does.

The Student/Teacher/Family edition of Office 2008 for Mac is $149. You just purchased a $2000+ computer, pony up the additional $149 plus tax if you want Office.

Not only is NeoOffice free it is a better product than MS Office 2008 for Mac and 2007 for Windows.

Not even close lol

for the OP: find someone that is in college and have them buy it for your from their college store, they get really good discounts. other than that all you can do is save up until you have enough for it or break the law.

if you buy office for mac for one computer, can you use it on another too?

I remember purchasing the student/teacher edition of Office 2004 and it came with three licenses. Maybe the similar '08 does too? But in all honestly. There is little stopping anyone from installing the software on multiple computers.

If you have licensed Office installed on a network with other computers running same license, it most certainly will know if there are more than three and lock most recent one out. Voice of experience....;)

it just seems weird.. pay 1000 for a mac but have to pay 1/5 the price of it just to get office ($200). Wow.

Office for Mac Home & Student edition ($149) comes with three licenses and three serial numbers. You may install it on up to three computers that you own.

As for Boot Camp - your computer comes with Boot Camp and the appropriate Windows drivers are on a Windows partition on the DVD that comes with your computer. What it doesn't come with is a copy of Windows. That, my friend, is up to you to provide.

There are lots of places that can build Macbooks, but not that many that build Microsoft office. The price to actual create them is the same, but the distribution median is different.
