How to Get @me.com address?

In iCloud it says I can get an @me.com address again. How does that work? I tried turning on mail in the iCloud settings but it still doesn't work.

I used to have a MobileMe account but let it expire last year. I am hoping to get the same name if possible.

you have to turn on mail from your iOS5 device or I think you can do it from Lion also.

^^ yeah i forgot when but i think hes right. I was prompted to make one and thats how i got mine.
