i have the first iphone and its on pay as u go, now i want the 3g iphone but i dont want to pay the high fee. can i buy the 3g and then cancel my contract/plan with att and still keep the iphone? that wont do anything to my credit right? thanks!
if you cancel within the first 30days you won't be hit with the etf fee but have to return the phone. If you cancel after 30 days you can keep the phone but will be charge the etf plus you prorated bill. So you are looking at paying an extra $300 on top the cost of the phone.
Isn't there a website/messageboard somewhere that people use to sell off their cell phones AND the plan that comes with it? Maybe you can do an authorized transfer or something to someone else who wants to buy the phone and your remaining contract.
thanks, what the "prorated bill"?
A "prorated bill' is a partial bill for less than a full month's of service but please note that your last bill will not be prorated!
Often when you start service there is a period of "prorated" service to set you billing to the monthly billing cycle. This is also sometimes done when you switch between different service plans.

Would AT&T let me cancel the Iphone contract without paying ETF if I'm working outside the US on permanent bases and can't use my rate plan overseas ?
What kind of proof will they require from me?
I'm guessing military? If I'm right, then all you need is any military order number. It doesn't matter what the orders are for, as they can't look it up.
If your not military, and are still on orders, those will work as well.
Must be hard to be an AT&T customer service rep.
So many different people with such different needs, its mind blowing![]()
Not military.
Just a NY based software company with an ongoing project in Europe.
No way I can afford to pay the roaming charges and not a chance I'll ever use the data plan over there.
Would a utility bill or home rental contract be sufficient ?
