Hmm. My iMac with Factory Fusion drive has a Boot OSX drive on the SSD and a Recovery HD on the HDD. It doesn't show it when it boots with the option key. CMD-R boots.

I found this:'Boot OSX' folders appearing in OS X

I assume the factory installation does something beyond what the standard install does to get the partition labeled as "Recovery HD." But the standard system install will name the recovery partition "Boot OS X." It doesn't make a difference to the system, those names are inert and have no affect on bootable partitions. Other than the boot menu (OPTION at startup) possibly filtering those out. But as you are aware the recovery partition is still accessible via CMD-R boot.

So for SAG, I used the debug mode in Disk Utility to show hidden partitions. I renamed the recovery partition from "Boot OS X" to "Recovery HD." It still didn't show up in the OPTION boot menu but still was CMD+R accessible. Probably has something to do with the logical core storage layout.

I’m having the same results with a home-brewed fusion drive on my Early 2011 Macbook Pro 13”.
The analysis on the ArsTechnica Article posted earlier lead me to believe that this is normal, since they have a stock fusion drive to play with. Doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about, it might just be because of the raid-ish thing that apple is doing.

Sidenote - I placed by SSD in the main drive bay and my HD into the optical bay for speed reasons. Now I’m pretty sure that my optical bay has full SATA III speeds, so it was a kind of pointless swap.
Any idea if I can just crack open the case and swap the drives without problems, or will I have to redo the fusion drive and reinstall the OS?
