How to get rid of ad malware?

    Hey everyone,

    I installed MPlayerX today but apparently the package came with a surprise. I now see adds EVERYWHERE on every website, including google. See screenshot.

    How can I get rid of this?

    Have you looked into your add-ons/extensions and seen, if anything new is installed in there?

    Slightly off-topic but where did you get the installer for Mplayer X that it would give you ads? Did you try to get it from the developer website ? I never had any problems installing that app before.

    I know CNet and Softonic have been "bundling" adware along with downloaded apps, so maybe OP got MPlayerX from one of those.

    Oh I didn't knew that. Thanks goodness I don't download apps from them like I used to.
