How to get rid of the annoying quack sound?

I personally think it sounds much more like a golf ball hitting a chalkboard.
Do you do this often? There is medication for this behaviour.
Aha, this one works. I couldn't find anything in the system preferences to quiet the "duck". Thanks for the tip.
yes - Thanks that works - but I wonder if there's a way to find the sound file in the system and replace it with silence - or do you think it's a firmware thingy?
In the sound menu of System Preferences, click on the "Sound Effects" tab and uncheck "Play feedback when volume is changed"

My favorite shortcut of the hour is Fruit+Opt+Clicking a running program in the Dock / Clicking somewhere on your desktop. OS X is pretty damn awesome.
