How to get rid of the "Eject CD/DVD Icon"?

After upgrading my Mac mini 2010 with a 2nd Harddrive instead of the CD/DVD-Drive, there is still the icon for ejecting CDs or DVDs in the status bar. Is there any way to remove it?

certainly, just Command-click it and drag it out of the bar.
