I have a clear case for my iPhone 5C and the case is yellowing. I was wondering if there were any methods I could use that would get rid of all the yellowing.

Unfortunately the answer is most likely there is no way to reverse the color change. The reason is that the plastic itself has changed color.

I had this happen on one of my translucent TPU cases. It turned a bit brown-ish in the corners. I switched to a solid black case after that.

Any of the TPU cases once colored or stained will not reverse or clean no matter how hard you try.

I had this favorite TPU white case that was super except for it started showing discoloration along the edges. I tried bleach, teeth whiteners including the fizzy type denture cleaners, all kinds of solvents, etc. Nothing worked. The nature of TPU is that it easily absorbs stains but will not release them. It's in the molecular nature of the polymer. I ended up with a white polycarbonate case that works great and cleans up nice.

So go ahead and buy a new one if you like the clear style - it'll be clear for a while until it starts absorbs oils from your skin and starts to discolor.

I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear and there was a little color transfer from my jeans. I've had this case for over a month. There wasn't a lot of discoloration that was really noticeable but it I used a Magic Eraser to get some of the transfer off.

The Magic Eraser works. I kept the eraser wet and lightly rubbed the sides. I didn't want to scratch it so each time I touch the case, I rinsed the Magic eraser under cold water.

I dont think so, i had my case for 1 week before it started turning yellow then brown. I tried to clean it but it wouldn't come off.

Thats the problem with TPU clear cases. They will yellow over time and there is nothing that you can do except get a new case. You could try the semi-transparent as they are quite nice and don't yellow

From my experience the TPU cases do tend to yellow but the polycarbonate ones generally don't. That's why usually get polycarbonate clear ones rather then TPU. That said my current case has a polycarbonate back but TPU sides.

Polycarbonate should be hard, while TPU is 'flexible'.

I use lemon juice to make mine more clear due to the acidity in it it removes most discolouration on the case

The discoloration is the result of UV exposure. Nothing you can do to alter the chemical makeup of the plastic.
