How to go home from Safari?

is there no way to get to the home screen from safari other than home button press?

I’ve always used the 4/5 finger pinch gesture to go home but finding it strange that when using safari this gesture shows open tabs.

I don’t remember this being an issue on my iPad Air ios10

I’m now using iPad Pro 10.5 iOS 11

It’s intermittent
Sometimes it opens tabs sometimes it goes to home screen. I wonder if it’s the screen protector

Yup. Swiping up from the bottom to bring up the multitasking/control center screen and touching any open space takes you to the home screen on ios11

The op already explained the issue is when using the 5 finger pinch gesture.

The other day I couldn't dock two windows on my iPad. I ended up resetting it and then turning it completely off and then logging back on which seemed to work. Maybe a reset will work.

Hmm, a four-finger pinch seems to take me to Safari tabs, but a five-finger works every time. Probably just a Safari bug.

Nope, mine’s still intermittent 4 or 5 fingers

I believe the OP ask is there “no way” ‘other than” the home button. The reply you responded to gave the OP another way as they asked for.

Also, to the OP, the 4/5 fingure pinch still works fine for me Safari to home. Im using 12.9 iPad running iOS 11. Is your software current?

I have not yet updated to 11.2 but I’m thinking its probably the screen protector
