Once you edit your video, how do you save the movie in quicktime so it can be uploaded to youtube?
 
Share - Expert Settings - and pick your settings

I think YouTube likes 320x240 mpeg4. Play with the bitrate until you get a decently small size, while retainig as much quality as you can.
