Two solutions here, maybe there is some other better way I don’t know. :D

1. SIM
If your old phone is not smartphone, then the easiest way is to import the contact from SIM card.

Settings – email/contacts/calendar – sync SIM contacts

2. Google accounts
(1) transfer the contacts from old phone to Google server
Google server: m.google.com
(2) bind Microsoft exchange mailbox in your iPhone
(3) download contacts from Exchange

How to transfer contact to google server, different systems like Symbian or Android have different operations.

Symbian:

Menu - Tools - Synchronization - options - New sync mode – edit, then you can see three options: "sync mode name", "Application", "Connection Settings."

Sync mode name: Google Sync

Application: go to Phonekook and the answers respectively are “Yes”, “Contacts”, “two-way”.

Connection Settings: The answers respectively are “1.2”, “Google”, “Internet”, “https://m.google.com/syncml” , “443”, your Google account and password.

The rest operations are easy to do.

Android:

If you have Google Mobile Service in your phone, just bind the gmail and sync the contacts.

If not, you need to bind Microsoft Exchange mailbox.

settings – account and sync – add Exchange account – Exchange server: m.google.com – select “sync contacts”

Blackberry:

If you can use BIS, just add gmail in “Email account management”, then you can find “sync contacts” in “sync options”.

If you don’t have BIS, use Google Sync. Blackberry users directly download the app at http://m.google.com/sync. Open the app, input your Google account, select “Sync Contacts”, choose “automatic” at “When to sync”, save the settings.

Done!

you know that some people cant sync via google through exchange anymore right? not to mention, this is a suspicious first post.

The SIM doesn't work if your old phone uses a larger sized SIM.

My experience with the Galaxy Q Android phone to an iPhone is as follows:

-- Export your old contacts on your old phone to a file. (I forgot what type, but it was some type of contacts file.)
-- Import this file into a Gmail account. (Apple doesn't accept this file type for some reason, so I used Gmail to do a conversion.)
-- Export Gmail contacts again. This time select the format that is compatible with Apple.
-- Import this new file to your iPhone. I used iCloud.

I usually let my lawyer handle my contracts.

sorry!!:(

Usually, the SIM card is not compatible with iPhone, but SIM cutting service is very very popular, I guess. at least in my country.:D

what was the point of this thread? was this a how-to reminder so people knew how to transfer contacts over? i mean most of us already have been doing these methods for awhile. and just seems like a strange first post.

I used Bump for transferring contacts from my 4 to 4S and from my 4S to 5.

I am so curious about that why there is no download link for Bump in itunes. But it seems it works well on android and many people have download it. Thanks for your sharing.

I see it - I just checked for it in itunes.

My son just moved from the razr maxx to the i5 and he used bump for all his info including contacts and pictures . Worked well

Pen, paper and a lot of typing.

Just like the olden days.

That said I've had nothing but an iphone since I ditched my dumb phone so it's pretty much been smooth sailing contacts-wise since then.

What I did was export to BCD file in old file and emailed it to myself as an attachment. On my iphone i opened the attachment and it prompted me to import!

Last thing I want to do is run all my "stuff" through Google.

SIM will not get you more than a name and a single number.

Old Phone is Android? I just know how to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone.
First, on the Android Phone, go to Menu > Settings>Accounts & Sync Choose your Google account from the list.
From the list of sync settings, choose Sync Contacts

Then, go to your iPhone, Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Add Account>Other>Add CardDav Account
Type “google.com” as the server. (without quotes)
Enter your Google username and password
Now, your contacts should sync.

For Android I use Gmail. Add contacts to my Google Mail account, whenever I login the Google account in Android it will sync my contacts.

For iPhone I use iCloud, work as the same as Gmail.
