How to increase a program's priority like windows?

I can't figure out how to change priority settings for programs on my mac.

I use to do it all the time on windows.

You can limit a particular process, but generally all processes take what CPU resources they need.
What problem are you trying to solve?

You can set priority with the Terminal command nice and renice. Here is an old post that explains it.
