Can anyone with a bricked phone on 3.0 confirm this will work?
I have the 3.0 update sitting on my desktop but I don't want to update if there is no way I can unbrick (if bricking occurs).

Also,
If I install 3.0 and it bricks, can I add my iphone UUID to the dev centre portal afterwards?

Dont want to upgrade and have absolutely NO options available to me. At least paying the $99 is AN option, a last resort.

I would like to know this too. Not being able to downgrade is the only thing holding me back. I'm a registered developer and would love to start working on the new SDK and test on my device. But I don't have a development iPhone. This is my one and only phone.

in system profile in win i found my iphone/ But there is no UDID? there is GUID... Is this what i need?

I may have missed the point, but if you can get to iTunes and can see device, click on summary tab and then click on serial and it reveals the UDID

dumb question...

I have an individual ADC account. That account is registered under myadc@domain.com.

My iTunes apple id is mypersonal@domain.com

When I install 3.0... Do I need to be logged into the itunes store under the dev account email to have my phone authorized?

If so, once authorized, can I switch it back in iTunes to my personal Apple ID and continue to use my phone/sync with my content purchased under my personal account?

So are you saying, even if I can get the OS and install my Iphone won't work? I have signed up to be a developer quite some time back, but didn't pay any money. I got confirmation/password etc... to download SDK.
I signed up to the basic development sign up Apple offers which is free and gives you some XCode tools etc, BUT this is NOT the same as the full iPhone developer package. You MUST pay the $99 to be a full legit iPhone developer to get the full iPhone SDK and be able to download the beta firmware and release apps to the App Store.

As a "free member" I cannot do this, but then again I'm not a developer (I bring insult to the term so I leave it to the professionals!!)

From what I hear 3.0 is buggy, but personally I can't wait to get the full version. It will be interesting to see how installing this will eventually affect the Dev Team developments once the final version is out and what compromises have to be made. Right now I'll stick to my 2.x firmware and just sit biting my nails until 3.0 final comes out.

To all devs out there, can't wait to see what you guys come up with for 3.0!!

Really sickening the way the people are groveling for paid developers to break their commitment to Apple just to get their greedy hands on copy and paste.

Really pathetic.

The terms and conditions we have to sign are no joke, although they may be to the people asking for copies of this beta.

... not to mention I am having trouble getting my legit questions answered..

You should understand, that sometimes it's imposible to get such acount! In my country only legal way to pay apple is CREDIT cards... I don't like CREDIT in any way... I have only DEBITOR cards, so i just can't by it! I got just free acount... paid developers - sounds great... :D

well if you really want to sell apps in the store then you gotta get the means to do it.

seriously. NDA is not something to be messed with. especially with apple.

This may help, I added the UDID first in the partner portal. I then used xcode to restore the phone to the OS 3.0 beta. after that was complete I restored in iTunes from a previous backup. There is an pretty good How To for this in the program portal under adding a device as well as installing iPhone OS.

As for your login issue, I would think that the ADC login is needed just to access the Beta SDK and OS and as well as adding devices, where as your itunes account is still needed to activate and sync the phone. I can't be 100% sure, as I use the same ID for both.

I hope I helped a little and didn't cause more confusion.

until then, so your not without a phone, use DFU mode and use a PWNED software bundle of 2.2.1. you can downgrade this way. i done it about 3 times and if you search more than myself have done this.

Can anyone confirm this? I'm in the same boat where my personal iPhone 3G is my only device and I can't risk being stuck on 3.0 just to develop software and my phone end up being practically unusable.

Wish I had a second iPhone 3G. :( And no, the simulator is not a viable option. Boo. Nothing like real world testing.

Are people with 3.0 beta noticing any problems with App Store applications that weren't written for the 3.0 firmware? Any programs that are crashing, etc?

i installed the 3.0 without my UUID on that list. then my iphone was bricked. then i i got my UUID on the list and my phone became activated again. butttt my itunes wont wont let me view my iphone. the page shows up blank and now i dont have any of my contacts or anything. what do i do? how do i downgrade backkk? please help!!

damnnnn so what do i doo? i ened to figure this outt sooon, i got class in a bit lol

Developers giving places on their account to 11-15 yos without developer accounts waiting for 3.0, should stop.
Do you all seriously think Apple can't track you or each UDID your adding to your developer account?

Your developer account is attached to your iTunes account. Your iTunes account stores address information.

Did you even read the NDA accompanying the developer program, before agreeing to it?
Your not even meant to let people know your in possession of iPhone OS 3.0,
let alone give 100 non-related iPhone or iPod touch users the ability to
download it freely. :eek::rolleyes:
