Installing on my iPP 10.5. Not going to do so on my main 13 mini though. I need my banking apps and those won't work on beta software (due to security reasons they say)

YOLO'ed this onto my primary phone (yeah, I'm kind of badass) and so far it's been good - the only app that's having problems is Slack which seems to think my phone is jailbroken.

I still don't like the customisation for the lockscreen though. 10+ years of Android being a thing has taught us that people have absolutely no taste whatsoever and should only be allowed minimal customisation options lest I have to constantly see ugly fonts, ugly lock screens, and ugly home screens.

I don’t mind the lockscreen customizations at all, the only thing I DO mind are the font choices. They are awful for numbers. They are fonts better-suited for reading and typography. Apparently whatever designers are working at Apple do not understand the psychology behind typefaces and how they influence design or the mind. There is only one acceptable choice in the entire option menu and that is the thinnest font offered, the closest one available to the font used in iOS 15.

They need more thin options and fonts that just in general have better looking numbers.

Every year I tell myself that I'm gonna be patient and wait for the full release in September, then I quickly cave in and install the beta anyway 👍

Aside from the odd bug I never have any issues.

I use my iPhone to run the International Space station, control all the nuclear weapons on the planet, manage the electricity, gas, and water supplies of over eight billion people, and to take endless selfies of my over-inflated ego. Safe to install this beta?
If you manage all that, your ego is not over-inflated.

For the newbies: if you only have 1 phone, it is not a good idea to install the beta on your primary device. Too many bad things can go wrong using a beta and potentially leave you unable to use necessary apps or worse, the phone itself. It doesn't matter if 50% of the beta users here say they don't usually have any problems. What matters, is not putting yourself in a situation where you can't use your phone.
Thank you for this post. I don't consider myself a newbie, but I do have many apps that I wouldn't want to go without.

For a brief moment, I felt like trying out the beta, but your post convinced me not to. Two months is not a long time to wait to experience iOS 16.

Live each day as if it were your last, because one day it will be.

First time installing a beta for iOS. Doing it on my primary phone. Live a little and do it.

Sometimes I can't understand Mac. Tried to backup my phone, there are around 60GB used and I have 180GB of free space on the computer and it says I don't have enough free space and no word how much it needs. Not to say that I wait 5 minutes to receive that image.

Cannot update to the beta version. Even after preparing the update for installation the prompt says "An error occurred downloading iOS 16 Public Beta". Removing the iOS Beta profile and reinstalling it did not solve the issue. Anyone else with the same kind of issue? Running iOS 15.6 on an iPhone XS.

Yes. It did that a few times for me. I just kept retrying, and it finally went through. Not sure if it’s a server issue or what. I’d say just keep trying. I didn’t reinstall the beta profile or anything.

I installed iOS 16 public beta on my 13 Pro Max. So far no apparent bugs.
At least nothing breaking for me. The rain % widget font is too big so it collides with the circle. And the maps are being weird again. It alternates between saying work and the actual address.

How long does this take to download? I'm reading "About 2 hours remaining".
Depends on network speed and how pumped the update server is. I started a few days ago between release days and it was like 22 mins for download. Don't know how long preparing and install took because I just let it go and did something else.

My 'Preparing Install' is taking longer than it took the software download :(

This is quite a stable Beta 3. And quite a nice update. Stage Manager does not seem to be fully functional yet, but it is certainly a useful addition to multitasking. One wish. I’d like the option to open two apps AND use split view with those two apps whilst Stage Manager is still on. At the moment, it’s either Stage Manager mode OR split view. But overall, I like it. Kinda kills having widgets cluttering the Homescreen too, which is no bad thing.
