I think they did mention it, although they wisely chose to avoid the annoying big red letters.

This wasn't helpful?:

This also seemed to be a cautionary piece of advice:

And finally, just in case that was not crystal clear:

But yeah... no big red letters - however there did seem to be an expectation that folk will actually read the article... I think they did just fine.
I did read the article, and in not one single quote you referenced did they mention backing up; probably the most important step in installing a beta operating system. It's irresponsible to not mention it.

Reading is fundamental. From the article:

Install the macOS High Sierra Public Beta
If the macOS High Sierra installer doesn't automatically open upon restart, launch it from your Applications folder using the Finder.
Click continue at the bottom of the installer.
A dropdown prompt will appear advising you to back up your Mac. Click Continue - assuming you've already backed up. If not, click Cancel and do that now.
Click Continue at the bottom once you've finished backing up, or if you already performed a backup.

I would say WAIT WAIT WAIT.. this build has so many many bugs in it that it came out way to early. of course individual results may vary and yes this is a beta. I install it so I can help my clients when they install it .. but I am going to wait till probably build number three of this mess...

anyone managed to install & run this High Sierra Public Beta in Macbook Pro that have 2 ssd RAID 0 format without any issues?? any info on apps that compatible with this BETA version??

Well, after about years of being an Apple Public Beta Tester on my MacBook Pro, all has gone well. There have been a few bugs, but nothing that you can't get through until the newest release.

No longer.

I recently had to wipe my entire system and reinstall through Time Machine because the initial installation of High Sierra Beta froze and failed. I have definitely lost faith in their Beta program being at least well enough baked by release day for consumers to trust that they won't have to completely reboot their drives.

And what is more, unless you are a "Developer", the beta program support line won't even help you. It's like the beta software program customer service has forgotten that they are part of apple, which is known for their customer service. If you are going to have a Public Beta Program, you need to have a support help line for them as well. Just common sense.

If you still want to upgrade to the Beta software, my recommendation, wait for at least three releases before touching it.

Same here. Up until High Sierra public betas have been stable enough to use them for daily use if you're OK with some possible smaller quirks. However High Sierra completely f*cked up my system. It was asking for iCloud credentials all the time all the synching was hosed, too, then I had a few ugly crashes of the system.

First I tried to find ways to fix it, but at one point it was just way too much to keep my machine useful, so I ended up wiping the whole harddrive (yes, I was trying out APFS) repartitioned it and did a vanilla Sierra install. All back to normal now, but really you don't want to try out this public beta alpha.

Now that we are on the second public beta build, is it possible to run a clean installation of Mac OS High Sierra via a USB Boot drive?

Will having a blank startup drive cause the installation to fail since their is no access utility installed?
