I am trying to install Monterey beta. I have a M1 Mac mini. I am currently running 14.7 beta.

It just stopped at 11.73 GB and now just 'hangs' there. The M1 mini does feel warmer than usual.

Anyone else have this issue?
Installed on M1 Mini without a problem. I was also running the latest 14.7 beta previously.
Once download completed, it took about 12 mins to run the Install app then 4 reboots and 22 minutes later it was at login screen. Haven't found any problems so far.

I keep getting an installation error. It downloads and as soon as the download is finished, an errors occurs. I have tried 3 times. I am attempting to install on my MBA M1. Anyone knows how to fix this? Here is a screen shot of the error.
Here te same, did you find anything that worked?

Edit: third time is a charme. No idea why it did work this time.

SoundSource does not work in Monterey. Rogue Ameoba is working on it.

I like Monterey on my M1 Mac mini.

Installed it on my 2015 iMac and so far no crashes or issues. The new tabs in Safari takes some time to get used to. Rest looks the same. Safari extension Wipr doesn't seem to work at the moment. Will explore a bit more in the next coming days.

Not like iOS where iOS 15 will run on all devices that support iOS 14.
Just because your Mac supported Bug Sur doesn’t mean it will support Monterey.
I’m surprised at the number of Macs still supported. Figured it would be only the last few years released.
Wondering if this is the last Intel macOS.
It's not. Funny how many people now are mad about it. I've been through this twice. The first time was my Intel Early 2008 MacBook when it ran Lion, but not Mountain Lion and people told me that the computer is too old and I should buy a new one and everybody supported Apple and no one was mad about it.

Now that I have a brand new M1 Mac I can tell the same thing: Your computer is too old. Buy a new MacBook.

And it’s not like your old Mac suddenly stops working and you can’t use it anymore.
moreover, there were no radical new features in macOs for years. I’m talking about things that were great additions in the past like: Spotlight, Quicklook, Expose/Mission control, APFS etc.

After all, most of the available software requires El Capitan aka 10.11, which is 6 years old and it’s the latest official macOs you can install on Core 2 Duo Macs which are more than 12 years old.

To me Monterey would only belongs to new M1 Mac. There is no chance that I would install it on Intel Mac. High Sierra or at most Mojave all day.

Oh yeah I also have an unsupported Mac that can’t install Monterey. It’s too slow to run big sur already so…

Monterey Developer Beta 1 and 2 ran fine on my 2014 MacBook Pro 15 and 2015 MacBook Pro 15. They are running Mojave and Monterey is the first macOS version that runs nicely on my old MacBook Pros. Monterey is on external SSDs. I plan to upgrade both to Monterey when it is released. Monterey solves the UI performance problems that I experienced in Big Sur when I tried an upgrade.

There's a thread on the Monterey forum on installing Monterey on unsupported hardware. My 2014 MacBook Pro isn't supported but I had it running the Developer Beta several weeks ago. It was easy to install once I followed the directions.

I've had the Dev Beta on my secondary Intel MacBook Air since release and it runs everything without a crash, restart on wake, or a bounce in the dock.

I'm taking the jump and putting this on my main Intel Mac.

Yes, this early Beta really is that good. By far the most stable release I have encountered.
Agree for the most part.

Maps is an absolute RAM hog, though and the draw distance needs some work.

Prettiest App on the machine. New wallpapers (from the 24 inch iMac) are nice as well.

Have you experienced any drawbacks or limitations so far from running Monterey on unsupported hardware? Surely there must be some functionality that doesn’t work or is iffy, otherwise Apple would have just supported your computer, and other older models that are are officially supported by Big Sur?

They are still selling computers with Intel chips, so I would hope that the next few OSs will also run on them. If I bought a new computer today and next year's operating system update didn't work on it I'd be pretty upset....
Would be like owning an android. Ooof

Stuff that requires the Neural Engine isn't supported.

The 2014 MacBook Pro 15 is the same as the 2014 MacBook Pro 15 except for a few small areas. The CPUs are the same. So dropping the 2014 doesn't really make sense. The only plausible reason is that Apple wanted to drop nVidia GPU support but most of the 2014s have Intel Integrated.

I've also run Monterey on my Windows Desktop using VirtualBox. A few people have it running on Linux KVM/QEMU and I expect a general solution to that problem within three months. I expect to be able to run Monterey on my 2008 Dell XPS Studio in the future. I've run Mojave, High Sierra and Catalina on that machine. No Hackintosh required.

I’ve been beta testing Big Sur since it came out and currently report 4 to 5 bugs a week. I’ll happily welcome Monterey. #bugsur

Ever since Apple started the public beta program I have always been able to enroll my Mac and iOS devices from the Apple public beta page. Now for some reason when I sign in, I not given the option to enroll my Mac or anything. It just reloads the public beta welcome page. If you notice at the top I am signed in. I have tried explaining to Apple support but got no where. I am curious if I was banned or something. But how could that be if I always download the beta utility from the beta page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
