If there is *any* installed software, assume your company will be collecting some data.

If you don’t have any installed software, and you want to be 100% sure, you can always re-install Big Sur from scratch, as if it was a new computer.

I don’t know in which country you are, but in many countries data collection by an employer from their own supplied equipment is perfectly legal. Indeed, it is to be expected.
That‘s why during my employed working life I’ve always kept separate devices for work and personal use.

thanks for the reply. like there isnt any such software in the launchpad but I dont know if there is any script or services running which are collecting my data.

Also, how would I do a clean install of big sur? Im assuming its using a bootable usb but this stupid machine doesnt even have a full size usb port.

According to the Apple website these are the current steps to erase an Intel based Mac and re-install Mac-OS.
I have not done this in many years so it would be a new procedure for me too.
I recommend a full backup/clone before doing this.

The instruction for an Apple Silicon Mac are different.
Also I seem to recollect that there were problems with re-installing Big Sur on Apple silicon Macs. I don't know if these have been resolved yet.
I suggest asking on the M1 forum before doing this.
