How to make a wireless network between a Mac and a PC?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I've never understood networks.

What I want is to be able to share files between my Mac and my PC by a wireless network, but I don't have any idea of how to make this, and I couldn't find an easy guide in google to make this.

WOW, I never knew the network was already configured. I guess my brother made it when he installed the wireless router.

How fast should my wireless networks be?

It says it will take 6 hours for 4.5 GB file. Isn't this too much time?

With files that big, you're better off directly connecting the mac and pc via ethernet.
